Hey, I'm Marco Franke — Senior Frontend Developer, homelab enthusiast, and professional software developer since 2007. On blog.disane.dev I write about the stuff I'm actually working with every day: clean code, automation, homelab setups, and anything else that gets a dev excited.
What I do for a living
By day I build complex frontend applications for an established ERP platform in the B2B space. My focus is TypeScript, Angular, Node.js and everything around it — from RxJS and state management to CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
Technical focus
- Frontend: TypeScript, Angular, Vue, React, Tailwind CSS, RxJS
- Backend: Node.js, NestJS, Python, REST & GraphQL, SQL/NoSQL
- DevOps: Docker, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Traefik, Portainer, Coolify
- IoT & Hardware: ESP32/ESPHome, Bambulab 3D printing, PCB design
- Infrastructure: UniFi networking, Unraid, MQTT, Prometheus, reverse proxies
- AI & MCP: Claude, custom MCP servers, prompt engineering, agent workflows
Open source
What I build in my free time ends up on GitHub. A few of the more active projects:
- Spoolman Home Assistant — 3D filament management for Home Assistant (200+ ⭐)
- Docudigger — automated invoice PDF scraping (100+ ⭐)
- Scrape-dojo — declarative web scraping
- More projects: SpoolmanDB, grocy-meal-planning, weishaupt-wem-mcp-server, and others
What I write about here
Anything that gets me nerding out — explained the way I would have wanted it explained when I was learning it. The usual topics:
- Web development — TypeScript, frameworks, best practices
- Homelab & self-hosting — Home Assistant, Ghost, n8n, Traefik, Unraid
- Automation — n8n workflows, PowerShell, Python, MCP servers
- Smart home & IoT — ESP32 tinkering, sensors, integrations
- 3D printing — Klipper, Bambulab, OrcaSlicer
- DevOps & tooling — Docker, Git, semantic versioning, CI/CD
